Everyone deserves fair access to Long Acting Reversable Contraceptives (LARCs).
They’re one of the most effective and safest forms of contraceptives currently available.
Despite this, LARCs make up only 5% of contraceptive uptake in Australia - compared to 19% across the world.
We call on the Australian and NSW Governments to:
to investigate ways to increase the availability and uptake of Long Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARCs)
Make LARCs more affordable with targeted funding to address the gap fees that frequently apply to their insertion or removal,
Increase the availability of LARCs by increasing the accessibility of training on the insertion and removal of LARCs.
