The Minns Labor Government announced in the 2023 election campaign they would hold a Drug Summit, bringing together experts in health, crime, culture, and socio-economic disadvantage.
We the undersigned believe that the Drug Summit should consider:
Decriminalising the use of and possession for personal use of currently illicit drugs;
The legalisation of cannabis and the creation of a regulatory framework to promote the creation of a safe, well-regulated cannabis market in NSW;
Drastically increasing funding for addiction services, with a particular focus on disadvantaged and regional communities
Introducing pill-testing and amnesty bins at festivals & concerts
Ending the use of sniffer dogs & strip-searching young people believed to be carrying currently illicit drugs for personal use
